About Me

My name is Kelsi, and I hail from Cincinnati, Ohio, in the Midwest United States. I'm 25 years old, and I've been creating art since I was a child--my mother was an elementary art teacher who always handed her kids a crayon when we complained of being bored.

I currently design marketing materials and do clerical work for a Cincinnati non-profit, and I really enjoy my job. However, there's nothing like coming home to work on my real passion--my art!

About My Art

I am a craft artist. You'll probably never catch me painting canvas! I love three-dimensional, functional art, things that you can hold and touch and use. My favourite materials are feathers, leather, wood, and other items from nature.

I have experimented with projects from jewelry and costuming to bookbinding and wax seal design. Generally my art has a historical or fantastical nature to it, owing to my interest in fantasy, fairy tales, and Renaissance-era crafts. I like to experiment a lot with various materials, and develop my own methods of using them.

I made my first quill in the spring of 2006 as a birthday gift for a friend (you can see it in the image above--the lavender quill on the right side). I couldn't believe how much people loved it! I had tons of birthday requests that year. Pretty soon I was making them just to use up the ideas that were in my head, and to play with all the different colours and styles of feathers I was collecting.
